Five Finger Death Punch Singer Breaks Down On Stage Over Dying Mother, His Sister Reports Mother Is Fine, In Fact So His Entire Family. VIDEO

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH played an abbreviated show last night (Friday, November 25) at the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts because frontman Ivan Moody was dealing with the illness of a family member.

Even though the singer told the crowd that his “mother” was “passing along today,” BLABBERMOUTH.NET understands that Moody was actually referring to another member of his extended family who has gotten very sick but has not yet died.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH reportedly played a total eight songs, with bassist Chris Kael handling the lead vocals on at least three of them.

At some point, Moody was led off stage and Kael came back out and apologized to the crowd, saying the band could not continue. “As you can see, tonight is a very emotional night,” Kael said. “We came out here… We tried to put on a show for you guys, but sometimes things are heavier than even we can imagine. So on behalf of FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, all of us, we appreciate you guys coming out. We need to get back there and be with our frontman, we’ve gotta get back there with our brother. Take care of the family, all right? We love you, Worcester. We fucking love you.”

It is not presently clear if any of the remaining dates on FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH‘s U.S. tour with SHINEDOWNSIXX:A.M. and AS LIONS — including tonight’s (Saturday, November 26) show at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey — will be affected.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH guitarist Zoltan Bathory said last year that the band’s onstage meltdown in Memphis in May 2015 forced Moody to confront his addictions after years of living as “a functioning alcoholic.” He added that the whole group made behavioral changes to help their bandmate on the road to recovery.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH‘s record label, Prospect Park, sued the band in April, alleging that the group wanted to rush the recording of a new album without proper creative input from the label and in order to “cash in” before the anticipated “downfall” of Moody, who was revealed to be in rehab.

Moody’s sister Sandi who refuted Moody’s claim on stage that his mother was dying: “Our mother is alive and well. I believe in my personal opinion that Ivan was drunk and used that as an excuse for his horrid behavior.”

When asked about a report byBlabbermouth that claimed Moody was “actually referring to another member of his extended family who has gotten very sick but has not yet died”, Sandi said that “no one in our family is sick or dying currently”.

When Sandi awoke to reports of Ivan claiming his mother was passing away, she actually had to check to make sure it wasn’t true. “Jesus. Imagine waking up and hearing that news? NOT TRUE.”

While on stage last night, Moody was specific in his claims that his mother was dying — having stated twice times that his “mother” was passing away. (See above) It’s unclear how he could have confused his mother with another member of his extended family, or who that person could be as his sister claims that their entire family is alive and well.

Sandi was adamant that she just wants her brother to get help. The band has been forthcoming about his alcohol related issues in the past, but has yet to comment on his seemingly drunken behavior on stage last night.
