Blumhouse’s THE PURGE: TV SERIES hit the airwaves for episode one on both USA and Syfy. Our very own Alex Maidy recently reviewed the first few episodes of the new series saying “the television version of THE PURGE works as both an introduction to the franchise for anyone who hasn’t seen (or cannot stomach) the movies but also as an expansion of the series.”

I think I will personally be waiting to binge the series once most of its 10 episodes have aired, but I might be started a bit early with the pilot later tonight. I guess we’ll see once my shift is over!
Anthony Hemingway (UNSOLVED: THE MURDERS OF TUPAC AND THE NOTORIOUS B.I.G. and AMERICAN CRIME STORY: THE PEOPLE V. O.J. SIMPSON) directs the premiere episode of the series which stars Gabriel Chavarria, Lili Simmons, Jessica Garza, Amanda Warren, Colin Woodell, Hannah Anderson, Lee Tergesen, William Baldwin, and Fiona Dourif.
THE PURGE revolves around
A 12-hour period when all crime, including murder, is legal. Set in an altered America ruled by a totalitarian political party, the series follows several seemingly unrelated characters living in a small city. As the clock winds down, each character is forced to reckon with their past as they discover how far they will go to survive the night.
THE PURGE: TV SERIES is executive produced by the film franchise creator James DeMonaco and led by Jason Blum. Additionally, the entire team behind the franchise are on board to executive produce: Michael Bay with Brad Fuller and Andrew Form under the Platinum Dunes banner and Sebastien K. Lemercier. Thomas Kelly serves as executive producer/showrunner of the series. Hemingway will also serve as executive producer on the premiere episode.
