Here is some information on how he passed away …

Police say a motorcyclist is in critical condition at a local hospital after the Harley Davidson he was riding Friday night collided with an SUV in downtown Savannah.

A passenger on the motorcycle escaped serious injuries, said Julian Miller, Savannah-Chatham police spokesman.

Jonathan Athon, 32, and 26-year-old Emily Boutwell, both of Savannah, were taken to Memorial University Medical Center after the 9:28 p.m. wreck at Price and East Jones streets.

Athon and Boutwell were riding a 1981 Harley Davidson Sportster south on Price when the motorcycle crashed into the driver’s door of a 2014 Acura MDX that an 85-year-old Savannah man was driving east on Jones, Miller said.

Athon is a member of Savannah metal band Black Tusk. A post on the band’s Facebook page Saturday said Boutwell was coherent and recovering and that doctors were monitoring Athon’s condition.

The police department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is continuing to investigate the wreck, and no further information about the nature of the crash was released Saturday.
