Watch The Who’s Roger Daltrey Calls Out Pot-Smoking Concertgoer

The Who‘s Roger Daltrey has a special message for a fan who was smoking marijuana at a recent concert: Stop.

When the band took the stage at Nassau Colliseum in New York on Wednesday (May 20), the legendary band’s frontman called out the person in a video posted online. “The show will be over,” he tells the person. “It’s your choice, I can’t do anything about it. I’m doing my best.”

After other audience members shout out “Eat it,” Pete Townsend also got in on the action with a rather colorful remark. Immediately after the incident, Townsend went right back into concert mode.

You can watch it all in the video below.

According to TMZ, the incident took place three songs into the show and that there had been an anti-smoking announcement prior to the show.

In a report posted by Newsday, it’s noted that the smoke did have an effect on Daltrey’s singing voice. “The smoke’s impact was almost immediate on his voice, which went from crystal clear and potent for the opening ‘I Can’t Explain’ to something rougher and more limited during ‘I Can See for Miles.’ ‘My voice is shutting down,’ he said, apologizing.” However, it seemed he recovered several songs later. Daltrey is reportedly allergic to marijuana smoke.
