Steven Tyler Suffer’s Seizure After Concert, Cancels Aerosmith Show’s

A “source close to” AEROSMITH has told the Boston Globe that singer Steven Tyler suffered a seizure after the band’s show in Sao Paulo, Brazil Monday night (September 25). It’s not clear what caused the seizure or if Tyler received a diagnosis before rushing home from South America and leaving behind a handful of canceled tour dates.

Affected shows were Wednesday’s (September 27) concert in Curitiba, Brazil; September 30 in Santiago, Chile; October 3 in Rosario, Argentina; and October 7 in Monterrey, Mexico.

A message to fans was posted on Aerosmith.com and on social media, stating in part: “Unfortunately, due to unexpected medical issues, lead singer, Steven Tyler, is seeking immediate care and has been advised by his doctors that he cannot travel or perform at this time. Therefore, the last four shows of the South American tour will be canceled… Steven is expected to make a full recovery. With proper rest and treatment he will be back on his feet soon rocking the world. Thank you all for your understanding and support.”

Tyler himself posted a personal message within the statement, which reads: “To everybody in South America — Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Mexico — I’m very sorry and feel like I’ve let you down. I won’t be able to continue the last four shows of this tour. I flew back to the U.S. on doctor’s orders last night after the show in Sao Paulo. Please not to worry. I am not in a life-threatening condition, but I need to deal with this right away and get some rest and medical care immediately in order to sustain and maintain my future performances. I promise I’ll be back. Unfortunately, health does not wait and it’s something even I can’t schedule around our shows. As they say, ‘We humans make plans, and God laughs.’ I love you all and will be back with you soon.”

In addition to battling their personal addictions, the members of AEROSMITH have dealt with bassist Tom Hamilton‘s bout with throat and tongue cancer, Tyler‘s multiple foot surgeries, and in 2016 Joe Perry, collapsed on stage during a HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES gig with a suspected cardiac arrest.

Tyler recently told The Pulse Of Radio that he doesn’t ever see a time when he’ll retire from the road. “No, I don’t know if I know how to do that,” he said. “I know that Joe and I, we questioned it a couple of times about whether, y’know, whether we would go out again. We took a year off. I remember I had hep-C (hepatitis-C) and decided to take a year off, and I literally got rid of it. I mean, it’s one of the few miracles known to man. I kicked its ass!”
