Skrillex Calls Deadmau5 an ‘Asshole,’ Twitter Rant Follows

A simmering social media feud between EDM superstars Deadmau5 and Skrillexmight just bury hip-hop’s Drake vs Meek Mill beef.

Skrillex, who is known to his nearest and dearest as Sonny John Moore, has finally responded to a Twitter barrage he caught earlier this year from Deadmau5 (otherwise known as Joel Zimmerman) by describing his old friend as an “asshole” with a negative attitude that needs an adjustment.

Rewind just for a moment.  Deadmau5 weighed in on the late June release of Skrillex, Diplo and Justin Bieber’s highly anticipated video for the single “Where Are U Now” with a string of disparaging tweets. In one, he wrote: “made the mistake of listening to this jack u shit with bieber assuming they at least did something cool… nope. what the fuck is this shit?” That was just for starters.

In a recent chat with New York’s 923 AMP Radio, Skrillex was quizzed about how he handled the haters in light of his shuffle toward the mainstream, and in particular those uncomplimentary comments from Deadmau5.

“I’ll always have love for Joel, because he’s put me on at an early time (in his career). But he’s an asshole. And everyone knows that, he knows that. I think that’s kinda his thing. The one thing that is unfortunate about it is he has a record label and when you have a record label you’ve got to be a leader and he has people that are signed to him. I couldn’t imagine being a leader, going out [with] a public image being such a negative attitude.”  Skrillex also suggested the Canadian DJ and producer’s penchant for trolling was overshadowing his music. “I think his attitude has changed over the last couple of years,” he said, adding: “I don’t take it personally, I feel worse for him.” Watch the interview below.

Deadmau5 predictably met news of the diss with a full blown rant. He opened with a nonchalant response (“dont really give a fuck tbh”), before turning defensive and then generally having a vent.
