Ozzy Osborne Lands In Top 10 for first time in 30 Years Thanks To Post Malone, Records Solo Album With Malone’s Producer
Rapper Post Malone‘s song “Take What You Want”, featuring Ozzy Osbourne and Travis Scott, has debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at No. 8. According to Billboard, the track marks Osbourne‘s first Hot 100 top 10 in over 30 years, as the BLACK SABBATH singer breaks the record for the most time between top 10s in the chart’s 61-year history. The song appears on Post Malone‘s new LP “Hollywood’s Bleeding”, which landed at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
In an interview with The Sun, Ozzy credited the Post Malone collaboration with getting him “off his arse.” The singer, who was left in intensive care earlier this year after a fight with pneumonia, explained: “I’d never even heard of this kid. He wanted me to sing on his song ‘Take What You Want’, so I did and then one thing led to another. I started recording a new album with Post Malone‘s producer Andrew Watt. It’s only nine tracks but it was a catalyst to get me to where I am today.
“If it wasn’t for making this record, I would still be on traction, thinking, ‘I’m going to be lying here forever.’ I’ve missed music so badly. My fans are so loyal and so good. Up until making the album, I thought I was dying. But that got me off my arse.”
“Hollywood’s Bleeding” is the follow-up to Post Malone‘s 2018 album “Beerbongs & Bentleys”. That record topped the Billboard 200 albums chart in May of last year. The same month, streaming service Spotify said the LP had broken the first-week streaming record, with more than 236 million streams in the United States and more than 411 million worldwide.
Earlier this year, Malone (whose real name is Austin Post) earned four Grammy nominations, including album of the year for “Beerbongs & Bentleys”.
He took home the top rap song trophy at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards for “Rockstar” alongside collaborator 21 Savage, as well as song of the year at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards for the same track.
Ozzy Osbourne says that he has completed work on a new solo album.
Ozzy has not released an all-new solo effort since 2010’s “Scream”, having spent the last few years touring with BLACK SABBATH in support of that band’s “13” LP, as well as playing a number of solo shows.
Speaking to The Sun, Ozzy said that guesting on rapper Post Malone‘s new album after a fight with pneumonia left him in intensive care earlier this year gave him a new lease of life.

Describing what fans can expect from his forthcoming 12th solo album, Ozzy said: “This is my first recording in a studio for 10 years, so I do feel a bit out of touch.
“Music goes straight online these days and that’s quicker than it takes me to write a text. It’s all about downloads and streaming now. What the fuck does that mean? What’s Spotify? I thought it was a skin problem where you woke up Spotified.
“The album was all finished in four weeks. I said to [wife and manager] Sharon that I didn’t feel like I’d made an album because we haven’t ended up screaming at each other.”
Ozzy has previously made conflicting statements about whether or not he intends to record a new studio album, telling The Orange County Register in 2017 that “it’s not cost-effective” to release full-length collections of tracks. “You actually lose money because people aren’t buying records anymore,” he said. “A couple of songs, maybe I’ll do that and put that out. I’ll go to Sharon and say, ‘I want to do an album’ and then I’ll go to her and say, ‘I don’t want to do an album.’ I really can’t make up my mind.”
A year ago, Osbourne told the Boston Herald that he was hoping to return to the studio after he completes his “No More Tours 2” farewell tour. “I have a bunch of songs written and have plenty of ideas and really want to do a new album, but as to when and how it will come together, I do not really know,” he said.
In early April, Ozzy postponed all his 2019 tour dates, both in North America and Europe, as he recovered from an injury sustained while dealing with his recent bout of pneumonia. The singer fell at his Los Angeles home, aggravating years-old injuries from his 2003 ATV accident that required new surgery.
