No Devotion’s Geoff Rickly Poisoned and Robbed in Germany

Here’s to wishing some good fortune onto No Devotion and United Nationsfrontman Geoff Rickly. The vocalist and Collect Records leader was poisoned and robbed Friday (Sept. 25) outside the Hamburg music venue Rock Café St. Pauli, where No Devotion was playing as part of Reeperbahn Festival.

According to No Devotion’s Instagram account, Rickly spent that night in a Hamburg hospital and was well enough to continue traveling with the band. “Sorry to anyone that was at our show for the cancellation,” he wrote.

Fortunately, the band (which features the former Thursday singer paired with former members of Lostprophets) was able to perform last night (Sept. 27) in Paris.

Rickly endured a similar incident in June 2013, when he was robbed at gunpoint near his home in Brooklyn, NY.

The band’s debut album Permanence came out Sept. 25 on Rickly’s label, Collect Records.

Rickly recently severed ties with Collect’s main financial backer, Martin Shkreli, after it was revealed his company, Turing Pharmaceuticals, raised the price of Daraprim (a medication often used to treat AIDS) by roughly 500 percent.
