Metallica’s New Album Is ‘Recording Right Now,’ Confirms James Hetfield
Metallica has been teasing updates on its long awaited tenth studio album for a while, and James Hetfield has some good news. The band is recording right now.
Well, we can’t speak for this very moment, but moves are being made. During a video interview with EMGpickupsTV, the guitarist-vocalist announced, “I tell ya, we’re recording right now.”
And since this was an interview for a guitar publication, he went into some gear head details: “There’s the number one guitar, there’s the number two guitar, there’s the number three. And the third-track guitars that just sound different. They all sound different”.
Metallica has been working on its follow-up to 2008’s Death Magnetic for a minute. In Jan. 2014, Billboard interviewed bassist Robert Trujullo about Metallica’s new album. Trujillo wasn’t dropping any tentative release dates then, though in a April 2015 interview with Billboard, guitarist Kirk Hammett estimated Metallica was 25 to 30 percent finished.
In other words, stay tuned.
