We’ve always known Kurt Cobain was a huge Beatles fan (he wrote Nirvana‘s “About a Girl” after listening to Meet the Beatles! on repeat for a day) but until recently, very few people had ever heard him cover them.

Today, a lost demo of Cobain singing Paul McCartney‘s A Hard Day’s Night ballad “And I Love Her” hit the internet, and it’s every bit as gorgeous and haunting as you’d expect.

First previewed in Brett Morgen’s Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck documentary — which debuted at Sundance and makes its national TV debut May 4 on HBO — “And I Love Her” is brief but unforgettable.
