Gregg Allman Cancels Tour Dates Because of Serious Health Issues

Gregg Allman has canceled a number of tour dates, citing “serious health issues” for the cause.

The next show he was scheduled to perform, at Scranton, Penn.’s Peach Music Festival, takes place a week from today, on Aug. 12. All current tour dates through an Oct. 16 show at the Clearwater, Fla., Jazz Festival are now on hold.

According to a press release, Allman is “currently under his doctor’s care at the Mayo Clinic.” No specific ailment was named.

Allman issued a statement along with the news of the show cancellations. “I want to thank my fans and friends for supporting me while I rest up and focus on getting better and back on the road as soon as I can,” he said. “I’ve been working hard with my band, my pride and joy, to play our music for everyone. We’ll see y’all in October.”

Allman hopes to return to the road for an appearance at his Laid Back Festival, set for the Lakewood Amphitheatre in Atlanta on Oct. 29. According to the press release, all dates scheduled for after that show will still take place.

Back in April, Allman’s tour hit another snag when his bus crashed in West Virginia between gigs. Three members of Allman’s crew were taken to the hospital with minor injuries and released not long afterward. Allman himself was unharmed in the accident.

Allman was currently on the road supporting Live: Back to Macon, GA, a 2014 concert recording released last year.
