Eminem Asked Tech N9ne For Just One (Awesome) Thing In Exchange For His ‘Speedom’ Verse

When Tech N9ne teamed up with Eminem for “Speedom (WWC2)” earlier this month, it sure felt like a main course. The two Midwest natives, along with Krizz Kaliko, put on an impressive and dizzying lyrical display. But it turns out that was only an appetizer.

“[Eminem] did the verse for nothing but a swap,” Tech told BET.com, implying that Slim didn’t ask for money in return for his verse — but instead that the Strange Music rapper would repay him with a feature of his own.

“I was flabbergasted, ’cause I know it costs so much to get Eminem and he’s worth every penny, and for him to say, ‘I just want a song from you for this,’ that made me feel really beautiful that he felt like that about my music.”

The two talented MCs had worked together in a different capacity a decade-and-a-half prior, when each supplied a verse for Sway & King Tech’s “The Anthem” in 1999. But they hadn’t been in touch much since then.

“I haven’t spoken to this guy since early 2000s or something and it’s just wonderful how that worked out,” added Tech, whose Special Effects album drops on May 4. “The fact that he feels like my music is that good that he would wanna do that for me is incredible. For one, do the song for me and then say, ‘No, no, no, no, I just want you to give me a song for this.’ I’m like ‘Yes!’ That feels so good, man.”

I’m guessing that when we hear it, it’ll sound so good, too.
