Eminem And Lil Wayne Weren’t Enough — Tech N9ne’s Going After Another Rap GOAT

Tech N9ne has a lot of features on his new album, Special Effects, which was released last week. From Eminem to Lil Wayne to 2 Chainz to T.I., the Kansas City native got some of rap’s biggest MCs together for the project — and, sometimes, he even had multiple heavy hitters on the same track.

But there’s one huge collaboration that he had in mind that couldn’t quite come together in time.

“These are the artists at the top of their game, they’re busy man,” Tech told Nuvo in an interview, referencing his Eminem collab, “Speedom (WWC2). “It was harder this time. Only thing that didn’t come in was Jay Z.”

“He was going to do ’Give It All,’ the one with Audio Push [on Special Effects]. It was beautiful, but he just didn’t have time to do it. Childish Gambino didn’t have time to do it, either. I was going to put him on the same one as Jay. That’s a mashup: Tech N9ne, Childish Gambino and Jay-Z — what! And guess who was going to sing the chorus first? Lenny Kravitz. That was my idea.”

That would have been quite a collab. Kinda upsetting that it didn’t happen, right?

Well, don’t worry. The Strange Music rapper isn’t giving up.

“The next album, I’m going to try these guys again,” he said. “If the music says try these guys, that’s what I’ll do. I just can’t put ‘em on anything. Hopefully the next album say Jay Z.”

Hopefully.
