COREY TAYLOR SAMPLES LED ZEPPELIN And THE ROLLING STONES FOR STONE SOUR TRACK. SAYS BOTH BANDS ARE ESTATIC

In “Fabuless”, one of STONE SOUR‘s heaviest tracks to be released as a single, singer Corey Taylor name-checks “Been a long time since I rock ‘n’ rolled” from LED ZEPPELIN‘s “Rock And Roll” and “It’s only rock ‘n’ roll but I like it” from THE ROLLING STONES‘ song of the same name.

Speaking to the “Wall Of Sound: Up Against The Wall” podcast, Taylor stated about his decision to use lines from a couple of rock’s most iconic tracks: “It just fit. When I was working on the lyrics, I had the music going. And just for some reason, every time that part would come around, those two lines would kind of come to me in that order. And I was just, like, ‘Man, that’s perfect. That just fits too well. We’re gonna nick those and see if that works.’ And we sent it to THE ROLLING STONES camp and we sent it to the LED ZEPPELIN camp and they were both into it — like super into it, really ecstatic. So I have to thank both of those camps for being so supportive of rock and just allowing us to kind of dip our toes into their little side of the stream.”

Taylor told “Loudwire Nights” host Toni Gonzalez that “Fabuless” is a “love letter” to the social media celebrities who are “about as heavy as a Tupperware bowl.” He added: “There are these people who are famous for nothing. I thought it wouldn’t get any worse than reality television people, and then the social media celebrities came… There were whole Vine tours at one point and thousands of screaming girls, and I’m going, ‘What the hell is this?'”

“Fabuless” is taken from STONE SOUR‘s new album, “Hydrograd”, which will be released on June 30 via Roadrunner.

The disc was recorded at Sphere Studios in North Hollywood, California with producer Jay Ruston, who has previously worked with ANTHRAX and STEEL PANTHER.

The band tracked the album live in the studio, cutting a total of eighteen songs from which fifteen will make the CD.
