Clutch- Book of Bad Decisions Out Now … Album Review And Tour Dates

Clutch- Book of Bad Decisions

The new album “Book of Bad Decisions” by Clutch released September 7th 2018 is already proving to be another successful notch on the bedpost of their career. With review after review of high ratings and tremendous acceptance this album has a little bit of something for everybody.

For a band that has been touring for 27 years they seem to have taken a new reflective route to feature and highlight some past experiences as well as adding some fabrication. That leads you into the first song “Gimme the Keys” which takes us back to one of their earlier tours and how one particular night was one not too soon to be forgotten.

There is a passion in the vocal storytelling and well thought out lyrics. A very catchy song that keeps your interest enough to lead you into the smooth, laid back rhythmic guitar riffs in “Spirit of 76” and the title track. Both songs are a very crunchy rock with a slight southern twang underlying through most songs on the album. The title track has a black keys sound to it that has me replaying it over and over.

The first three songs really pull you into wanting to keep listening further on. “How to Shake Hands” and “In Walks Barbarella” are more entertaining songs with high energy and are easy classics. “How to Shake Hands” is a fast paced rocker reminiscing on how things would go if they decided to change careers and become President.

Even with slight political tones it is lyrically engaging and lively. “In Walks Barbarella” is the horn blasting, memorable track that between the vocals and the horns blending with the guitar riffs an instant hit that you cannot sit still to. “Vision Quest” is another notable that has a high-energy piano added with a fast guitar riff to keep you grooving to a spirited beat.

One of the later songs of the album “Hot Bottom Feeder” is one not to be expected but what other band than one from Maryland to write a song that provides a seemingly tasty recipe for crab cakes. No matter the lyrics still a fun notable, easy listen with great guitar riffs.

The first initial feelings were an appreciation of their continued talent and the range of sound. A range from fast paced rockers to groovy, jams that keep your feet tapping and body swaying.

This album is an easy listen from start to finish, always maintaining interest from beginning to end.

Clutch will begin touring with Sevendust starting September 16th 2018.

“Book of Bad Decisions”, the new Clutch album is done in true Clutch style and tradition. With pensive lyrics backed by abrasive riffs and bad-ass bass, Clutch once again comes through with an album that is hit after hit from top to bottom.”
