Music

Check Out SPHYNX

SPHYNX is a musical collaboration between two kids from NYC more specifically, Mike Stevens and Yash Thanki. At only 16 years old, the two have been creating buzz all around the world. Their music careers began separately at early ages with Mike learning how to play guitar by the age of six, and Yash smashing away at his parents old piano around the same time. Mike’s inspiration comes from growing up around the House and Techno scene with his mother playing tracks around the house by artists like Tiësto and Armand van Helden. Yash being the one heavily influenced from the Hip-Hop era also learned how to DJ by the time he was 8 years old, begging and crying asking his parents to buy him 2 turntables and a mixer.

Mike and Yash decided to collaborate after seeing each other many times opening and closing for the same artists. This leaded into them becoming best friends and creating the duo SPHYNX.

The duo received massive amounts of attention when they released their version to Pep and Rash’s hit song “Rumors.” Their remix, gaining attention from Spinnin’ Records and world famous artists such as Dzeko & Torres, Firebeatz, and W&W gave them the boost they needed to start putting out more content not as their solo aliases but under the most important one of them all, SPHYNX.

They both continue to make music, working on new releases such as a 2015 revamped version of the 2000 classic “Komodo” by Mauro Picotto. and many other projects throughout the EDM spectrum including genres such as Trap, Progressive and the newest of them all Future House. Their main focus with their music is a Sub Genre that is currently called “Groove.” Their new projects include fast paced synths with groovy basslines combining the old ‘danceable’ House music to today’s bass heavy and melodic styles.

All of this along with many of their passion projects like designing their own clothing, directing music videos and more make is safe to assume that you can definitely expect much more from the young talent driven powerhouses in the years to come.
