BØRNS RELEASES DEBUT SINGLE “10,000 EMERALD POOLS” TODAY
PERFORMANCES SET FOR CMJ MUSIC MARATHON LATER THIS MONTH New Interscope recording artist BØRNS releases his debut single “10,000 Emerald Pools” today. Produced by Kennedy (“Karate,” Nightbus Radio) “10,000 Emerald Pools” is available for digital download and streaming via digital subscription services. Look for BØRNS to perform at the CMJ Music Marathon in New York City later this month along with a handful of California dates. See below for tour dates, more to be announced soon. “10,000 Emerald Pools” premiered last week on Neon Gold who praised the track stating it is “a debut single that’s love at first listen and then some…“10,000 Emerald Pools”…soaks up the cosmic rays of a thousand suns and channels [them] into a solar-powered summer anthem for any season.” Others soon followed with CMJ saying “the song is a slinky little synth-pop number, alight with vocal hooks and chipper acoustic guitars,” Pigeons & Planes called it “an expansive, fluid piece of music that comfortably combines elements of rock, folk, electronic and pop” and Hilly Dilly declared it “a genre-mashing work that simply hits all the right notes.” Growing up in coastal Michigan, Garrett Borns has been moving from one inspiration to another. His first artistic love was visual arts and then came music thanks to an eccentric piano teacher. At the age of 15 BØRNS attended the prestigious summer program at Interlochen Center for the Arts to study filmmaking while writing songs on the side with the music majors. Playing local gigs through high school and college, BØRNS ended up in a secluded treehouse home in the Los Angeles canyons. Feeling a rebirth of inspiration he wrote “10,000 Emerald Pools,” a song that most perfectly captures the singer’s signature emotive, youth-and-abandon fueled sensibility. “When you feel an emotion so visceral and potent, the songs write themselves,” he says. “I didn’t consciously write it, it came from the feeling of longing and the world slowing down when you dive deep into love.” BØRNS is working on his debut EP which will be released on Interscope Records later this year.
