Beyonce Nominated For Best Rock Grammy Going Against Disturbed, David Bowie, Twenty One Pilots
METALLICA, DISTURBED, BARONESS, GOJIRA, KORN, MEGADETH and PERIPHERY are among the nominees for the 59th annual Grammy Awards, which will be held on February 12, 2017 at Staples Center in Los Angeles and broadcast on CBS at 8 p.m. ET.
The nominees in the “Best Metal Performance” category are as follows:
BARONESS – “Shock Me”
GOJIRA – “Slivera”
KORN – “Rotting in Vain”
MEGADETH – “Dystopia”
PERIPHERY – “The Price Is Wrong”
METALLICA‘s “Hardwired” is also nominated in the “Best Rock Song” category, while GOJIRA is nominated in the “Best Rock Album” category for “Magma”. The French metal band will compete for the trophy with BLINK-182 (“California”), CAGE THE ELEPHANT (“Tell Me I’m Pretty”), PANIC! AT THE DISCO (“Death Of A Bachelor”), and WEEZER (“Weezer”).
DISTURBED is nominated in the “Best Rock Performance” category for “The Sound Of Silence” (live on “Conan”), up against ALABAMA SHAKES (“‘Joe” Live From Austin City Limits), Beyonce featuring Jack White (“Don’t Hurt Yourself”), David Bowie (“Backstar”), and TWENTY ONE PILOTS (“Heathens”).
Elsewhere, Joe Bonamassa gets a nod for “Live At The Greek Theatre”, nominated in the “Best Traditional Blues Album” category.
The Grammys are voted on by approximately 13,000 Recording Academy members, who are comprised of artists, songwriters, producers and engineers. More than 21,700 recordings were submitted for Grammys consideration this year. For 2017 awards, music must have been released between October 1, 2015, and September 30, 2016, in order to be eligible.
