Ad-Rock Says Vin Diesel Was Not a Dancer For the Beastie Boys
We have good news and bad news. Bad news first: according to Beastie Boys’ Adam Horovitz, Vin Disel wasn’t a dancer for the rap collective.
“I did see on the Internets [that] Vin Diesel — one of my favorite actors — claimed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last week that he was a break dancer for Beastie Boys… and he was not,” Ad-Rock said on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
Last week, Diesel told Kimmel that he did indeed dance for the Beastie Boys.
“I danced for the Beastie Boys, yeah,” he said. “They lived in my neighborhood and I was break dancing on the street and I wanted to get into a club called Dancetaria and I was 16-years old. And they said, ‘come you’re going to be our dancers.'”
Good news is that while Ad-Rock claims Diesel wasn’t a dancer for the Beastie Boys there may have been a chance, since Diesel was too young to get into Danceteria at the time, that they may have got him in by saying he was. Ad-Rock, after discussing with his wife Kathleen Hanna, figures that “perhaps we were going into Danceteria — it’s a club we used to go to all the time when we were kids — and that one of us — probably [Adam] Yauch cause he’s a nice guy — saw this kid and was like, ‘we’ll just say you’re a break dancer and you’re with our band.'”
“He said he was a breakup dancer for the Beastie Boys. That’s weird, you guys,” Ad-Rock continued to joke.
