The Lumineers Concert Photos & Review
The Lumineers did not disappoint with their first show in Buffalo NY. The Rolling Stones’ Gimme Shelter introduced the band as they made their way on stage before diving into Sleep On the Floor, with a night full of sing-alongs and hit songs playing for a packed house of over 10,000 cheering fans. Since the beginning they have attracted a flock of fans that are not just the audience but part of every song. From the moment they played their hit song Hey Ho it wasn’t just the band singing, it was the crowd! That’s the thing with this band, you can’t help but join in and share in the moment.
The Lumineers are on a world tour promoting their new album, III which is a masterpiece of an album that listens like an Award-winning film, telling the tale of the fictitious Sparks family: Gloria, the matriarch; her son, Jimmy; and her grandson, Junior, the album is a story that touches on themes of addiction and redemption.
The well designed stage supported by amazing visuals worked well in such a large arena, the entire crowd was on their feet from the moment the Lumineers took the stage playing crowd pleasers with an air of excitement as people danced and sang along. The set was a night of hits and introductions to songs from the new album. The best aspect of the concert was how nonstop it was. Lead singer Wesley Schultz was on the stage the entire time singing or talking about the songs and he even jumped in the crowd as he sang “Angela”
Later Wesley shared “I was worried it would be uncomfortable to share these songs and this story,” before telling the heart felt back story to Leader Of The Landslide which he shared with crowd that brought even more meaning to the song, about one a friend who was battling addiction, been in jail, went to rehab and is now homeless.
The whole night and makes you notice just how much of a story their’ songs have always been telling, in the same vain as Dylan and Cohen with the band paying respects to both with wonderful covers. This show brought a sense of awe from The Lumineers, mingled with anticipation and enjoyment from the audience and an interactive vibe that kept each feeding off of the other.
Before the encore, The Arena was raining down confetti on the audience who danced like it was Buffalo snow they are all accustomed to The Band returned to the stage with Schultz and Fraites, in Buffalo Sabres Jerseys. With each song the band kept the audience wanting more and excited to keep dancing and singing along. To close things out the band played Stubborn Love which had the entire arena on their feet letting it all out for that final song
With a night of candid storytelling that leaves you wanting to read their discography like a book there was no pretence or pretending, just an immensely talented group of musicians doing what they do best. It was a genuine pleasure to watch them own the Arena , and to know that I was watching something special. Sometimes you know that about a band, but you don’t really know it until you see it. The Lumineers truly remain one of the most exciting live acts to see today.

Stubborn Love
The Lumineers are an American folk rock band based in Denver, Colorado. The founding members are Wesley Schultz (lead vocals, guitar) and Jeremiah Fraites (drums, percussion, piano). Schultz and Fraites began writing and performing together in Ramsey, New Jersey in 2005. Cellist and vocalist Neyla Pekarek (cello) joined the band in 2010, and was a member until 2018. The Lumineers emerged as one of the most popular folk-rock/Americana artists during the revival of those genres and their growing popularity in the 2010s. The band’s stripped back raw sound draws heavily from artists that influenced Schultz and Fraites such as Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan and Tom Petty. They are known for their energetic live shows and several international hit singles including “Ho Hey”, “Stubborn Love”, “Ophelia” and “Cleopatra”. The band has become one of the top touring bands in the United States and also sells out shows around the world
