Liam Gallagher Calls Late Queen Frontman Freddie Mercury a ‘Goofy Cunt’
He’s not one to hold back when it comes to voicing his opinion, but Liam Gallagher’s fans thought he went too far when he attacked late Queen singer Freddie Mercury.
The singer, 45, responded to a tweet in which a fan compared the two artists, writing: ‘Freddie Mercury – Bohemian Rhapsody. Liam Gallagher – Songbird.’
Liam simply replied: ‘Fuck him, the goofy cunt.’
It’s not the first time Liam has criticised the band Queen or its members.
In October last year, the former Oasis singer told Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins during an interview for NME that they were too ‘Queen-y.’
He said: ‘Do I like Queen? Uh, not really, no. I mean, I get Freddie Mercury has a great voice and all that, and obviously they’ve got some great songs. But I do find them a bit Queen-y.’
‘They’re a top band and obviously they’ve got great songs, but I dunno, man. Brian May’s guitar sound sounds like he’s got it clogged in his ass.
‘I respect him and all that, but I don’t know, man.’
In 2012, Liam beat a host of rock legends to be crowned Number One Frontman Of All Time by XFm fans, beating both Freddie and late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain.
He said at the time: ‘Greatest frontman? I knew that anyway! There’s not many of us about. There are a lot of pretenders out there.
‘But I’d like to thank everybody for voting and stuff. Nice one! It’s always been about the vocal for me, man. If you’re a good looking fucker like me, you’ve got to be down the front, haven’t you?’
