Ivan Moody Quits Five Finger Death Punch Starts New Band “Villian”
Ivan Moody has been pretty much off the grid since Five Finger Death Punch’s November tour, where Moody was in no shape to be on stage, leading to some awkward footage and backlash from fans. The following night, he noted he had a “mental meltdown,” while some fans in attendance noted he was still in no shape to perform. Moody promptly left the tour, saying he had “fallen ill” with the implication that he was checking into rehab.
Moody resurfaced today, in a new interview with Denver’s 106.7 KBPI, and shockingly revealed he would be leaving Five Finger Death Punch.
“To be completely honest with you, Death Punch and I have kind of come to a crossroads. We’re very proud of what we’ve done – years and years and years of work…,” he said.”
“It’s time for us to take our way and go do something else, so after this year… my new band, Villain… I’m so excited.”
Moody notes he will complete the band’s remaining tour itinerary for the year and then exit.
Five Finger Death Punch just completed recording a new album and are currently embroiled in a lawsuit with their label Prospect Park to release them from their contract. When Moody left the band’s tour a few months ago, All That Remains’ frontman Phil Labonte filled in.
The band have yet to comment on the situation.
