Watch Triumph Insult Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig

After years of figuratively pooping on unlucky celebrities, geeks and financial fat cats, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog finally gets his own sitcom. Adult Swim’s The Jack and Triumph Show pairs the foul-mouthed, cigar-smoking puppet with 30 Rock alum Jack McBrayer as former co-stars of a Lassie-esque show who reunite as the canine comedian emerges from a long downward spiral.

In this exclusive clip from an upcoming episode, Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig stops by Jack’s new coffee shop, where he suffers a succession of third degree burns unrelated to the hot beverage he’s about to enjoy. While Jack charmingly notes how he knows Koenig from the “2011 Men Who Look Like Boys Convention,” Triumph takes the musician to task even after he sends out a positive review to his entire fan base.

“Fantastic, I hope your mother and the dude she woke up with visit soon!” the puppet proclaims. “That was unnecessarily cruel,” Koenig responds, only to have Triumph suggest: “Write a fruity song about it!”

The Jack and Triumph Show airs Fridays at 11:30 p.m. ET on Adult Swim. Triumph, who’s voiced and puppeteered by Robert Smigel, debuted in 1997 on Late Night With Conan O’Brien, where he quickly became a fixture. In the years since, Triumph has taken on everyone Eminem (who had an especially big bone to pick with the pup after the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards) to World Cup fanatics, leaving a trail of scorched earth and righteous dog doo in his wake.
