SONS OF ANARCHY STAR RYAN HURST TO JOIN THE WALKING DEAD FOR SEASON 9

Another Whisperer has been added to Season 9 of “The Walking Dead”: “Sons of Anarchy” alum and “Remember the Titans” star Ryan Hurst has been cast as a recurring guest in the role of Beta, AMC confirmed to TheWrap on Monday.

Beta is second-in-command to Samantha Morton’s Alpha, the leader of The Whisperers, a group that arrives in the comic books after the All Out War storyline to antagonize Rick Grimes and company.

Hurst is one of several new characters arriving to the longstanding zombie drama in Season 9, including Morton and Cassady McClincy, who will play Alpha’s daughter Lydia.

TheWrap previously reported that “The 100” star Nadia Hilker will play Magna, the leader of another group arriving next season that includes comic book characters Connie and Yumiko, played by Broadway actress Lauren Ridloff and “Wonder Woman” actress Eleanor Matsuura, respectively.

From 2008 to 2012, Hurst starred as Opie on FX’s popular “Sons of Anarchy,” and has recently been cast in the fifth season of “Bosch” on Amazon. Earlier in his acting career, Hurst played Gerry Bertier opposite Denzel Washington in feature film “Remember the Titans.” He’s let his hair grown since then.

Hurst is repped by UTA as well as his management team at Piper Kaniecki Marks.

Season 9 of AMC’s THE WALKING DEAD is scheduled for a Sunday, October 7 premiere
