NORMAN REEDUS STILL HAS HOPE SILENT HILLS WILL LIVE ON

The gaming world (and even some of us non-gamers) was collectively disappointed when the news came down that Konami had cancelled plans for Silent Hills, the new Silent Hill game spearheaded by Guillermo del Toro and Metal Gear Solid designer Hideo Kojima and “starring” Norman Reedus. Thebrief looks provided for us were fairly chilling and hinted at an intense experience, and although Konami intends to continue making Silent Hill games, it appears this specific incarnation will not be one of them.

But a flicker of hope remains for at least one crucial participant. Reedus himself recently mae it clear he hopes Silent Hills will be resurrected, especially considering the massive support the title has received from fans. (A Change.org petition to revive it tallied over 100,000 signatures.)

Here are some words from Reedus (to IGN) on the matter:

There were so many ideas and cool future happenings that were thrown around. I just can’t see us not picking this up somewhere. The internet buzz about [Silent Hills] happening was so huge. I’ve never seen anything like it; petitions with a hundred thousand people that signed it, petitions to please make it happen, that’s crazy. That’s a crazy fanbase for not just that video game but also those people making that video game, and for me to jump on that truck with them, I was like, ‘Holy balls. It has to happen. You need to do this.'”

If Silent Hills doesn’t come to fruition, Reedus still seems eager to collaborate with Kojima and del Toro in the near future:

Hopefully they’ll come to some sort of agreement and that happens, or we do something very similar that’s different. I don’t know. I have faith that we’re going to do something though because it just seems like it was one of those things that needs to happen. It’s like destiny, it needs to happen.”

You’re preaching to the choir, Norman. We do indeed need this to happen.
