MÖTLEY CRÜE’s TOMMY LEE Wanted To Have Showmanship Of A Frontman

In a brand new interview with GulfNews.com, MÖTLEY CRÜE‘s Tommy Lee spoke about the fact that he wanted to bring all the colorful personality of a frontman to the drums. He said: “I was never one for the passenger seat. I have always wanted my level of entertainment and showmanship to be the same as a frontman. I have always tried shit that was memorable and exciting. Too many drummers sit at the back covered in drums and you never see them.”

Lee also talked about his current drum kit. He said: “I’m at the stage now where I hit the drum and it lights up. I also have a fully see-through kit now so people can check out exactly what I’m doing. Most drummers are covered with a million drums and everyone is like, ‘What are you doing back there?’ I have the dream drum kit now — a bit different to being a kid, when I only had a snare drum.”

MÖTLEY CRÜE‘s “The Final Tour” kicked off last year and will end New Year’s Eve at the Staples Center in Los Angeles after one more round of North American gigs.

MÖTLEY CRÜE first announced plans for their two-year “Final Tour” by signing a Cessation Of Touring Agreement at a press conference in Los Angeles in January 2014, solidifying the end of their touring career with their last show ever on New Year’s Eve at Staples Center in their hometown of Los Angeles. Since the announcement the band has been touring tirelessly to say goodbye to fans around the world.

The 2014 leg of “The Final Tour” was one of last year’s top-grossing tours, selling close to a million tickets across 72 cities and grossing more than $45 million.
