HBO SAYS THERE HAVE BEEN “PRELIMINARY CONVERSATIONS” ABOUT A DEADWOOD MOVIE

I’ve got some good news for all of you Deadwood fans out there. Sources tell TV Line that there have been new talks between HBO and creator David Milch about possibly doing a movie, and last night starGarret Dillahunt (“Jack McCall” and “Francis Wolcott”) tweeted that he’s also heard rumblings of a Deadwood flick. When asked to comment, an HBO spokesperson confirmed that “very preliminary conversations” have begun about making a small screen movie.

After running for three seasons, the Western TV series was cancelled in 2006, and although HBO had announced two two-hour films, they never materialized as planned. Many (including yours truly) consider Deadwood to be one of the best television dramas of all time, and I’m definitely down for more, even if it is just one movie to close out the series. Do you think a Deadwood film will actually happen?
