Harry Potter Star cast in Walking Dead Spin off

We’re all super excited to be getting a Walking Dead companion series, but very few details have been released – until now. AMC just released some casting news: young Voldemort will star in the show!

Frank Dillane, who played young Tom Riddle a.k.a. young Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter series, will play the drug-addicted son of a female guidance counselor in the Walking Dead companion show.

The Walking Dead may be a daunting prospect for a young actor – Frank is only 23 – but working on a powerhouse series like Harry Potter will have given him some experience in working the hectic schedule of a blockbuster production. Oh, and his dad is Stephen Dillane – Stannis Baratheon in Game of Thrones – so no doubt his dad can offer him some advice!

Young Voldemort was a pretty intense part to play for an 18-year-old, as Frank Dillane was at the time of filming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. No doubt that experience of getting inside the mind of a twisted, conflicted character will serve him well for the moral conundrums of The Walking Dead universe.

Young Voldemort might have been a disturbed kid, but Dillane seems so clean cut and tidy in the role that he looks exactly like my deranged ex-girlfriend… Needless to say, he’s looking a bit rougher and more apocalypse-ready these days.

He’s not the only new face

AMC’s Walking Dead spin-off show will exist in the same universe as the current Walking Dead, but will follow the lives of a female guidance counselor, her kids, and a divorced male teacher as they fight for life amidst the zombie apocalypse. Joining Frank Dillane is Into the Storm‘s Alycia Debnam Carey, who will play his sister in the show.
