David Crosby Apologizes to Neil Young & Daryl Hannah for ‘Predator’ Comments

After tossing some serious shade at Neil Young and Daryl Hannah last year, David Crosby just wants to let the sun shine.

Speaking on the Howard Stern Show, Young’s longtime collaborator and friend doubled back from his Sept. 2014 comments to the Idaho Statesman, when he called Hannah (Young’s girlfriend), a “purely poisonous predator.”

“I have screwed up massively,” Crosby told Stern. “Daryl Hannah never wound up in a Texas prison. I’m screwed up way worse than that girl. Where do I get off criticizing her? She’s making Neil happy. I love Neil and I want him happy.”

Crosby was alluding to his 1982 arrest in Dallas for drug possession, driving under the influence of cocaine, and carrying a concealed pistol.

“I was worried that he was going to be taken advantage of,” Crosby said. “But the truth is that’s not my place to judge.”

He continued: “Daryl, if you’re out there, I apologize. Where do I get off criticizing you? There are people I can criticize: politicians, pond scum. Not other artists that have gone through a hard life, same as me. She hasn’t had it easy either.”

Back in September, he told the Idado Statesman, “I happen to know that [Young is] hanging out with somebody that’s a purely poisonous predator now. And that’s karma.” Reflecting on being married to Jan Dance since 1987 (and Young’s 2014 divorce), he warned: “He’s gonna get hurt. But I understand why it happened. I’m just sad about it. I’m always sad when I see love get tossed in the gutter.”

But with Young and Hannah’s blessing, that could all be water under the bridge now.
